I also stupidly thought they might help stop some of the leaks. My how we all laughed.

This is an easy job. I just replaced the front seals with part number MWC6130. You will also need 8 rivets per side. I sued 3/16″ x 0.45″ LNG 78248.

First step was to drill out the old rivets with a suitable sized bit. You can then tap the old ones out and pull off the old rubber strip.

Before riveting in the new strips ensure that the holes in the strip match the holes in your car. Most of mine were ok but one or two had to be redrilled. There is a strip of metal running through the lower edge of these seals.

I also had to cut an angle away at the door hinge end so that the door would close, otherwise it bunches up and no amount of slamming will close the door.

Once complete, the doors will be a little harder to shut becasue of the new seal. it soon beds in though. Whether this made any difference to leaks or not I don’t know. I like to think it stopped some of the wind and rain whistling in.
